The Life and Legacy of Robert James Holt Jr.

Robert James Holt Jr. was born on November 15, 1967, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late Robert James Holt Sr. and the late Queen Ester Holt. He peacefully passed away on January 21, 2026, in Concord, North Carolina, surrounded by the love of his family.

Robert grew up in a spiritual home and was baptized at a young age, joining the Church of Christ at 17.

He was a lifelong Steelers fan, and his love for family, friends, and life was evident to everyone who knew him.

After graduating from Lanier High School, Robert began working as a Correctional Counselor at the Mount Meigs Youth Facility, where he poured his heart into guiding and helping troubled youth.

In 1993, Robert moved to California to follow his calling in public safety, earning an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Sacramento City College. In 2013, he met the love of his life, Lataya Woods, and the two were married in 2016, building a beautiful life together.

In 2021, Robert and his family relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he continued serving his community at Atrium Health. Robert’s life was marked by dedication, compassion, and a genuine desire to lift others up.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert James Holt Sr. and Queen Ester Holt, and his brother, Charles “Tommy” Armstrong.

Robert leaves behind his loving wife, Lataya Woods Holt; his cherished children, Amaya Jackson and Kendall Jackson; his brother, Willie Albert Armstrong; aunts, Jessie Muse, Rose Williams, and Marietta Persado; his mother-in-law, Robin Woods, and father-in-law, Lorenzo Allen; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Robert’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, and his memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
